On 8 October, the Oxford and Empire Project celebrated the launch of its website and the unveiling of the 'Oxford and Empire' plaques in the History Faculty. As part of the Global and Imperial History Programme Welcome Drinks, students and faculty members from across the

University of Oxford came together to hear more about the project and plans for upcoming events. Six plaques, modelled on English Heritage's Blue Plaque scheme, were unveiled (with accompanying information on the project's website). The plaques commemorate individuals -- nominated by students and staff at the University -- who are not always well known, and whose lives and accomplishments help to demonstrate the range of scholars who have been part of Oxford.
